Lessons from the weekend

This weekend I was able to start learning grappling. We are working on different footwork patterns and new guards.

  • Posta longa- lead foot arm leads
  • Zenghiaro- (boars tooth) an active aggressive guard that moves forward.
  • Porta di ferro- (iron gate) a waiting guard.
  • Frontale- very aggressive guard with both hand forward as if to choke.

Homework- animal walks, straight line, transverse, and triangle foot work patterns.

Small win- being able to see a pattern and start developing a drill to help with muscle memory.

Most important takeaway: I am not allowed to hit the bag with hate in my heart.
No matter what is going on, do not train in anger or hatred.  That leads to the abyss and not the void.
